Rosneft finishes unique transport operation on Samara refineries

17 October 2014

Rosneft organized delivery of the oversize equipment – deaerators used for hydrogen generation units - to Kuibyshev Refinery and Syzran Refinery, Rosneft subsidiaries in the Samara Region. The transportation was implemented with the helicopters. The oversize equipment was delivered from river terminals in the Samara district as an external cargo carried by MI-26, the largest transportation helicopter in the world.

Overall dimensions of deaerators are: length – 10.1 m, width – 3.25 m, height – 7.5 m, mass – 14.5 t. According to estimates of experts, oversize equipment delivery by air turned out to be most feasible both technically and economically, as additional road base fortification, transmission power line and gas pipelines cut-offs, traffic limitations were not needed. At the same time all necessary security measures were taken: the flight route went over river surface.

Notes for Editors:

Deaerator is a device, used for elimination of dissolved gases from boiled feedwater in order to protect equipment and pipelines from corrosive action of dissolved gases and to prepare water to be used in hydrogen generation technology.

The hydrogen generation unit complex is aimed at providing processing units of refinery – hydroprocessing units participating in oil products refinement from with hydrogen sulfur-containing compounds – with hydrogen. The hydrogen generation unit is the key element of large-scale investment program on reconstruction of producing units on the Syzran Refinery and the Kuibyshev refinery, carried out by Rosneft aiming at complete switch to production of motor fuels in compliance with 5 class of Customs Union Technical Regulation (Euro-5), boosting its conversion rate and increasing ecological and commercial security.
